On Sunday the Iceberg team had the pleasure of participating in the CGU Move in May, a fantastic event hosted by one of our inspiring #LeadingLadies Angie Greene, Founder and CEO of Stand Up Events Melbourne Inc.
The event was an inclusive community walk around Melbourne’s beautiful Tan track with music, dancing and food to celebrate before and after. The event was created to support and celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) in Australia and promote equality for all, regardless of sexuality and/or gender.
Angie herself grew up in a sporting family, her grandfather Frank Sedgman a Grand Slam tennis champion, father Russell Greene a Hawthorn Football Club Hall of Fame member, and brother a past Hawthorn Football player. Angie’s second brother was also a talented athlete, but as a gay man felt marginalised in team sporting cultures. His experiences with discrimination in and outside sport led Angie to create Stand Up Events and fight for equality for all.
Everyone should feel safe to be who they are, without hate or oppression. Team Iceberg was proud to support such an important cause, and will continue to support and fight for inclusion, diversity, and equality.
